On Your Side (Psalm 118:1-14)

Minister Diya Williams, December 13, 2015

Christ Jesus is better for you than Nationwide

There are a lot of people that will make claim to be on your side

•People on the job
•"Deals for Christmas", retailers
•Politicians
?Claim to be right and righteous
?Claim to have your and your country's best interest in mind

There is only one friend that is truly on your side
1.David recalls in Psa 118 that
a.Your distress is God's opportunity to put you in place
b.Vs 5 the Lord answers in your time of distress and puts you in place
c.How many times does your situation make you feel claustrophobic, backed into a corner, and you don’t know which way to turn
d.You've look for friends and they left, you called for family and they couldn’t help and in your distress you call for anybody that will be on your side

e.In distress and under duress, you really can take whatever help you can get.

f.If you think my help is good, then imagine how much better the hand of God is

g.If you think my hug is comforting, then imagine being in the arms of God
h.David was put in a large room by God

i.Large room "mer-khawb" or liberty
ii.When God is on your side you have liberty, you are free, we spend to much time waiting on men and women in our lives to give us freedom
iii.If you want liberty from bills, trust God
iv.If you want liberty on your job, trust God
v.If you want liberty from the police, trust God
vi.If you want liberty from government, trust God
vii.God gives us liberty if we call unto him

2.To be free, to have liberty you have to discipline your flesh and walk after the Spirit in Jesus
a.Ro 8:1 ¶ [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Ro 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3.Ps 118:7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see [my desire] upon them that hate me.

a.In God's will the things that you want He will cause your enemies to do for you

i.Doubters

ii.Haters

b.God will bless your friends and supporters

4.Ps 118:8 [It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

a.Don't worry about ISIS

b.Don’t worry about healthcare coverage

c.Don't worry about your children

5.That includes you

a.Ro 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

b.Ro 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

c. There comes a time when you have to grow up, be mature in Jesus

d. Eph 4:22-28: put away lying, anger,

6.When God is on your side more than the whole world against you

a.Ro 8:31 ¶ What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us?

7.When God is on your side

a.Ro 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

b.Ro 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

8.Rom 1:16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

9.Jesus Christ is on your side… are you on His?

Psalm 118:1-14

1O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. 2Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 3Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 4Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 5I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place. 6The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? 7The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. 8It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. 10All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them. 11They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. 12They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. 13Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me. 14The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
